Memorials

Postby Ganga » Fri Feb 14, 2014 4:11 am

There used to be a thread here (I believe it was deleted in the great purge) for remembering loved ones. I would like to get that started again. And feel free to remember those from the whisky community as well.

This past Monday my aunt passed away. In some ways a blessing as she had struggled with health issues the last 2 years. She will be missed. For her, I raise a glass of Talisker 25, 2009

What the heck. Since my aunt was from Utah and I have a whisky from Utah it only seems appropriate to lift one more. High West double rye from Park City, UT.

Last night my wife's coworker lost her husband. I will find something after this whisky for a proper toast.

Next up is the OMC Dailuaine 34. This is to remind us of the complexities of life. Some important events lie hidden and we need to remember these.

Ah yes, the delicacies of life. And last, to remember the strength that we need to carry on. Montgomeries Ardbeg 10, 1991

For the young man (boy scout) that died in San Diego this week. May your family and friends remember the good times and forget the bad. A little Springbank to you....

I'd like to raise a glass of whisky to all those that perished recently in the two major plane "accidents".

And to justice! I have not horse in the Ukraine but no one should blame the victims. Justice is not about killing but rather holding those responsible accountable.

I'd like to memorialize not someone in my life (friend/family member) but rather someone who touch my life and I'm sure many others. Mr. Robin Williams. You will be missed sir and I will lift a glass or two your way come Thursday. Goodbye "friend".

Thursday is going to be a busy night for Hollywood rememberances. I never gave a toast to James Garner and now Lauren Bacall. More people that will be missed.

I'm going to work this backwards. First off to that class of a lady Lauren Bacall. For you I lift a glass of 19 yo Bladnoch. Brash when it needs to be yet refined and subtle mostly. Cheers and thanks for all your contributions.

One of my favorite comics...Robin. He's brash and in your face yet still has a soft side. It's like this Bladnoch lightly peated that I poured in tribute. You will be missed Robin.

Littlemill 17. A wonderfully light, sweet dram. Reminds me of the films of the dearly departed James Garner. RIP sir.
