The Caoran Reserve at £29 a bottle (as it is in Asda) is over priced as there are far better whiskys out there.

For £20 its very drinkable and to be honest im enjoying very much.

Ive not done a tasting note (yet) but reading your notes willie i totally agree with this part

At asda today. Glenlivet 12 @ £20 Aberlour 10 @ £17.99.

Also a very nice Olive loaf reduced to 85p and 2 ciabatta rolls knocked down from 65p to 30p for two. Very nice at lunchtime whacked them in the oven for 5 mins, then with lashings of butter chedder cheese tomato and a dollop of mayo.

The only specials I've seen on whiskeys here in Ireland recently have been Powers gold Label for €20 in Dunnes which is 6quid off and Bushmills original/white for about €23 which is only about €2.50 off . They also had/have Tullamore Dew for a score.


I heard Glasgow Airport has two bottles of Tyconnell Single Malt for £30 but don't know if they've anything on the cask finishes.

Waitrose now have there usual excellent Christmas offers on now (A'Bunadh 24.99, laph 10 20.99 etc, etc) but this year with some surprises like Laga 16 with 15% off at 33.99. Don't think I've seen Laga on offer for a long long time.
