It's actually on the south side of the street, not far from the bridge.

Go to http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ and plug in IV1 1HD, post code gleaned from The Whisky Shop website (select Post Code). C'est un morceau du gâteau! One of my favorite reference sites.

Post Xmas Sale at Sainsbury's includes the gift sets with minatures in. They include Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie and Bowmore at half price.
I bought the Bowmore set which includes a sherry schooner I think a small Bowmore water jug and minatures of B 12 and B 17 for £5.
I haven't tried the 17 before.

That's the best price I've ever seen for HP 12.

If only our favourite specialist dealers could get the same deals as the supermarkets.....

Best I've seen too. All about buying power I guess, and it's hard for anyone to compete with Tesco in that department.

I have seen the prices rising already. Waitrose have put Clynelish 14 up by £8, Aberlour a'bunadh by £5, Asda have put Balvenie up by a few quid.

Glenmorangie 15 is the bargain of the moment though at Asda or Tesco. It is worth the usual £30 but at £23 or £24 it is ridiculously good.

JW Green for those who like that kind of thing, £20 in Asda (I bought one in December). Chivas Regal £16.50ish in Asda.

Spotted Macallan 10 year old (not fine oak) for £12.99 70cl bottle in the Byres Road, Glasgow branch of Somerfield yesterday. Had to do a double take myself! Not usually a fan of Macallan, but rude not to at that price

At Scotmid (Scottish co-op) Highland Park 12yo (choice of new or old style packaging) for £17.66, a third off. I remember this time last year the co-op had a different malt at 1/3 off for several months, which included most of their standard malts - Bunny, Glengoyne, Macallan etc. Deals change every 4 weeks.

Also got a Glen Moray (12yo finished in chenin blanc casks) for £11.99, the 1L NAS was also on offer. This stuff looks like it has been kicking around a warehouse for some time and the bottling code suggests as such.

I now don't buy a standard malt until it's on offer at the supermarket!

Not quite a "Supermarket deal", but for the same reason as Les, I have just placed an order to stock up with the disappearing Bowmores.

Went into Sainsbury's in Dundee yesterday only to find that the Balvenie founders reserve was still at full price. Consoled myself by buying an old pulteney 12yo for £17.99 and a Bruichladdich "rocks" for £22.99

Any supermarket that sells Laphroaig 15 and Springbank 15 is OK by me!

Sainsbury's most local to me has Bruichladdich Rocks at £17.99, fiver off, so I have restocked :P

They have also discounted the JMR Peaty, Spice and Smooth etc down to £11.99.

So if you believe another thread they are actually giving you one penny to take it off them!! And no I don't work for HM customs.

So I'm drinking this major supermarket brand 12 year old Isla malt and I mention it tastes to me like Lagavulin and the next thing you know its in the paper and they up the price £2. So I'm now drinking a supermarket brand 10 year old Isla malt whisky thats £2 cheaper and as its got a salty, licorice taste, Bowmore dark comes to mind. :D Though at a 1p under £13 the 10 year Macallan at Somerfield was a steal I missed out on.

You know, it's really too bad that the supermarkets here are not licensed to sell liquor. I'd be really interested in those store-brand or cheap deals, but alas.

Also they are raising the tax on alcohol here
Good thing germany is close enough to justify the petrol costs of a trip.

Sainsbury's has Bushmills 16yo (probably the larger stores that stock it) for about £10 off at approx £26. Also Buffalo Trace for approx £15, £5 off.

They also had Auchentoshan 10yo or Select at half-price but out of stock.

One Bush and two Buff was scooped by me to widen my international selection.

I'm really starting to appreciate decent bourbons like Elijah Craig and Buffalo Trace. Also some Black Bush has gotten me into the smooth but spicy Irish sherried stuff hence me going for the Bushmills 16.

Again Black Bush was a few quid off at Sainsbury's as well. Must be specials with St Paddys day now only a few weeks away.

Drammer, very soon you will see many more countries increasing duty on alcohol - thanks to the EU's new "minimum duty" legislation.
