Poker Players Here?

A couple of points:

I wanted to recommend a great DVD for no limit hold em poker players. My buddy at Universal loaned me a copy and it really helped beef up my game -- I just watched it earlier this week, so really, it just took a couple of days. There's a couple of others in the series that I'll check out, too, but the one I got is Master Bluffs and Tells, probably the weakest part of my game (and a major one in cards). Oh, and Vince Van Patten hosts the disc, the guy from the World Poker Tour. Highly recommended:

Also, what's everyone's favorite drink for card games? I generally hook up a reasonable bottle of single malt like Glenfiddich, but my generous friend, same guy who loaned me the disc, brought a bottle of JW Blue Label to one of the games last month, so it's gonna be hard to go back after that.

BIG TIME Holdem player here. Wassup! Will check out the link, for sure.

I usually try not to drink when I'm gambling at a casino, but when playing with friends, we usually take turns bringing bottles of scotch of our choice. However, being that me and all my boys are around 24 years-old, our choices are generally limited to the very, VERY basic single malts.

(But then I go home to my collection of 20+ very nice single malts!)

Probably a good idea -- I just avoid the tables if I'm going to enjoy a good single malt anyway.

The DVDs really are pretty cool if you're a WPT fan...and I like to read on occasion, but poker books usually aren't terribly exciting. The DVDs are good for those laid back after work times.

Another player down here in LA -- I personally can't wait for another Vegas trip.

Oh yeah, you're in Burbank, I just noticed! Are you by any chance attending the Scotch Whisky Extravaganza on Nov. 10th at the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica?

i am also a big poker player and when i was in college i hustled a bit of pool. One of my favorite times was when in college i ran a college eatery that had a pool table. Every tuesday after we closed a buddy and I would open up a bottle of Jameson, and shoot pool until we were completely blitzed.

When playing pker though i never drink, unless it is online in which case i drink whatever is open in my house!

something to think about for you NL HE players: this game takes very little tradtional poker skill. basically it comes down to situational analysis and testes. agree??

I love Holdem. thats how i pay for my whisky.

mostly online cause i cant help smiling when i got the nuts.... :lol:

Maybe sometime we should go to one of the sites online that let us play for tokens and have a game amongst the whisky lovers. lemme know.

oh yeah. i drink what's open. right now i get to select from aberlour's a'bunadh, the chieftain's (young lagavulin?), a bowmore 17 that is kinda too flowery for me and the laphroaig 15/ or cs 10
