Favorite whiskey recipes?

What are your favorite whiskey drinks? Or sources of recipes for drinks? My favorite is http://www.thebar.com, I like that there's an actual bartender that demonstrates pouring.

Most of the folk on this forum tend not to mix their whiskies. I generally drink mine neat as well, but I have been intrigued by the recipes posted on http://www.monkeyshoulder.com recently, and if I pick up a couple affordable blends in the coming weeks I might just try to mix a few myself. To some that would constitute heresy -- in the end, I am a slave to flavour and will seek it out in any way I can.

Which whisky do you prefer to use as your base?

Excellent, thank you for the link. I think I'm taking the opposite turn, that I learned to enjoy whiskey drinks due to http://www.thebar.com and now I'm starting to enjoy whiskey neat. I started with what they suggested, Crown, George Dickel, I got a bottle of Macallan 12 year for X-mas that I've started to sip. I was planning to learn more here and start branching out.

My daily visits to the forum are a constant source of discovery and enlightment -- a lot of people here really know their way around a bottle. I hope to be earning enough in a few years to indulge my whisky interests to their full extent, but until that happens I have to focus on value and just scrape by the best I can.

Thank you for the kind words and welcome, I am excited already about learning here - seems a higher level of eloquence than other message boards. Learning from the experts is intimidating, but truly there's no other way.
