Hi there,
Hughb, there are several threads in this forum dealing with this question. If you keep it in its tube or in a dark place at a constant temperature that should not be too cool, say around 18°C, it can be kept for years.
In this case it depends, how old the bottle already is, in what condition the cork is and how it was stored all the time.
