Whisky Schools

Postby Frodo » Mon Feb 27, 2006 6:15 am

I have been accepted as a fan club member for Makers Mark, and am eligable to attend their "whisky school" Anyone know about these "schools" - Maker's Mark in paticular or others in general?

The decriptions of Bruichladdich's looks pretty good (at double the cost of MM's) and Bladnoch's school at 2 days interests me less.

Frodo, the Maker's Mark school costs about $830 USD or so, and lasts a couple of days. There's a "Stillhouse University" link on the Ambassadors site with more details.

I have an interview with Raymond Armstrong at Bladnoch about his whisky school on Episode 23 of WhiskyCast. I think the big difference here is that the Maker's Mark school appears to me to be more observatory in nature, while at Bladnoch and Bruichladdich, you're actually participating in the distilling process and doing real work. I could be wrong about the Maker's Mark school, though...

Thanks. I'll check it out. If I was going to one of these, I'd want something more hands on.
