I've also met Les Taylor, The Tross and Ikendal but all on the phone.

Yet speaking to Compass Box at WL they sort of turned my head a little, and lead me to understand that the "no ice", "no mixers" rule is in fact just snobbery.
Rather than thinking "why ruin a great whisky with ice", instead think "if you want a cold refreshing drink, why should it not have a whisky you enjoy as a major component".
Sure I won't be adding ice to my favourite malts any time soon, but if I want a long cool summer drink, I'll consider reaching for the malt bottle instead of a Gin one!
I might even try a Talisker Sour!
