Beer with Lagavulin

I live by a huge store that has a plethora of microbeers and imported beers. They have singles and 6 packs of course of all these unique beers.

I noticed one beer from the UK that was made in Lagavulin casks!! It was by far the most expensive single bottle there at $7.99 per 12 fluid ounce!!

I'll have to get the name.....have any of you heard of beer that has been somehow made with whisky casks? :?:

Innes and Gunn's Oak Aged Beer (I didn't like it at all - I had to pour it down the sink :oops:

Tullibardine 1488 (haven't tried it yet. It's a bit pricey for a beer, at £3.99 a bottle)

Apparently, Harvieston (brewer of the fantastic Bitter and Twisted) also have a beer matured in whisky casks - it's called Old Engine Oil. I haven't tried that one either.

A Danish brewer has made the "Duncan Taylor Whisky Ale", by adding DT Bowmore (16yo) to the brew.

The whisky is not obvious in the finish product, but it's a nice beer. I don't think its available outside Denmark.

The Tullibardine 1488 is slightly unique (as far as I know) as it is matured Tullibardine wash. Can't get a better nip and chaser! Is it worth the price? Nah - probably not. Buying the USP rather than a top quality beer. Having said that it is still a good ale.

The Innes and Gunn's Oak Aged Beer and the Tullibardine Blackford Ale are quite similar. If you don't like the one, you'll not like the other.

I like the Innes and Gunn Oak Aged Ale quite a lot.

From the explanation I got, some kind of whisky is aged in these barrels, then the ale, then a second whisky. Not sure what the original whisky was, but the final product down the chain was pretty awful - the Grants Ale Cask whisky.
