Found an "interesting" article at the whiskynews part of http://www.scotchwhisky.net

Fife-based Wemyss Development Company, whose interests range from tea planting in Kenya to sheep farming in Australia, is launching three blended whiskies: The Peat Chimney, The Spice King and The Smooth Gentleman.

Does this remind anybody of anything??

Inspiration is perhaps too kind a word here?

It will be interesting to see how they get on.
Personally I think the idea has already been successfully exploited by JMR who have carved out a nice little niche not to mention good whiskies.
It's not as if this new company has tried to be particularly invovative either - just offering a straight alternative to JMRs product, though I would have thought that the natural progression for JMR drinkers (if I can use that term) would be to try single malts offering the characteristics of the vatted expressions.
In such a fickle world, however, we can only wait and see. Don't think JMR will be quaking yet

Who do we think is behind this attempt to marginalize single malts? Oops, provoking again.
