The sun shines a little and we get a much wanted visitor to the garden:

Mr. F.,
I use a Nikon D200 and the lens was the Nikon 105mm Micro Macro.
As well as being a superb Macro lens, it is described by Nikon as the definitve portrait lens.

Nice picture C57.

With these last pictures of mine I am happy to say I am delighted with the colours. More vivid than usual and no filters used.

Mr. F., I forgot to say that the 105mm lens is a normally aspirated one ( ) and not digital. This means that when used on my D200, it is the equivalent of around 160mm. Quite scary for a macro!
The pictures were also taken hand-held as I didn't have time to run for my tripod, so they may not be quite as crisp as I would have liked.
The butterfly ones were also taken from about a foot (12" or 30cm) away from the butterfly, whilst Shoshanna was about 2-3 feet away.

Anyway, I love that lens.

Thanks for the info Malty! I'd love to get my hands on a lens like that. The light in the pictures are soft and lovely and the butterfly pictures are well focused. I believe that has to do with the person taking the pictures also
Nikon lenses are expensive but worth every penny!

Edited:
Collector57; another beautiful butterfly picture !

Sorry, no butterfly pictures, as it's autumn and they are either flown away or died.

I walked home and there were three of these little beggars standing in my yard eating the tomato vines in our garden. We don't feed them but they still seem to enjoy coming into the yard. Last night they were all sleeping in the backyard! This one was bedded down for an afternoon nap:

We went golfing this afternoon at the local course and this little red fellow was trotting around, stealing golf balls from the fairways! One ball would have been a "best drive" contender if it hadn't been scooped by reynard!

Needless to say, this area abounds with wildlife.

I know - living in Colorado, we miss the real autumn colors - we just get a billion shades of yellow when the aspens turn. Beautiful, yes, but not like back east. We were just in northwestern NJ last week, and the leaves were just starting to turn. I had to grab this shot:

As much as I love Colorado, this is the one thing that I really do miss about the eastern US. . .

how's the fall foliage now?

We are past peak now, but it was really nice this year. Usually when the leaves start to change we get tons of wind and rain right away, but this year was perfect.
