New additions to the Lair

Musky was in Winnipeg Friday and picked up a few additions (the 6 on the right). The first six are ones picked up mostly here in Wooden Lake. Now to find somewhere to shelve them!

Now, this is why people spend thousands of dollars to come up here to go fishing. This picture was taken about 20 minutes by water away from my house. My buddy caught this, posed for two pictures and then gently released it back into the water to make more little fish.

Musky? He caught a large mouth bass, released it and never caught another fish all day!

I can just imagine a nice distillery on the banks of this bay in Sydney (not that'd I'd drink anything that came out of it).

I'd sooner drink that than whatever a distillery on the banks of the Yarra would produce!

Here's a pic of Nant Distillery in Tasmania. Actually, I was surprised at how good their whisky was. Still very young, but they've been maturing their first releases in tiny 20L barrels and after even 2 years, they tase very well aged, with absolutely no rough edges at all. and trust me, i'm not exaggerating - most Aussie whisky is gross.

But it's an opportunity to try a Jap malt that you may not be able to in Brazil. It'll be good enough and different enough for you to enjoy.

I finally tried some Nant the other week which my friend picked up from over there... really impressive stuff!

I've heard a handful of distilleries here have released a couple of dodgy casks, although everything I've tried so far from Bakery Hill, Nant, Lark and Angaston have been pretty solid.

Funny that. My Mrs bought me two clear glass whisky cabinets to display some of my stuff either side of the entertainment cabinet in the living room and has been know to throw me a grand to buy whisky.

Lucky man - what did you buy! To be fair to my wife, although she doesn't want my whisky displayed (and she thinks whisky tastes like spew), she has bought me membership to the SMWS and an annual subscription to Whiskymag and she has driven me round Spirit of Speyside and Islay and so on....so I am pretty lucky really.
