I've acquired an empty bourbon cask and am about to pour 5-6 gallons of water into it and then slowly rotate it an inch at a time for a month to draw the whisky out of the wood and into the water. When my late father tried this 10 years ago, he got a fairly palatable beverage out of the process. He actually did it 3 times and called it "Swish"
Has anyone else tried this and was the end result palatable?
