New bottles for Ardbeg?

Postby Deactivated Member » Mon Sep 18, 2006 9:34 pm

This is nothing other than a rumour and pure speculation, but I was recently told that Ardbeg may be considering new bottles.

I can't say where this came from, but it was from within the trade and by someone who was party to a recent Ardbeg (sorry, LVMH) meeting.

So, if it does happen, then you heard it first here.
If not, then sorry for getting it wrong.

I wouldn't care much about a packaging change--as we've all noted in the HP thread, it's what's inside that counts--but the cynic will look for a concurrent price rise. New ownership will undoubtedly want the consumer to feel he is getting something new for the extra shekels, even if it's only labels and bottles. Given that "new" Ardbeg is due to come online shortly, changes in packaging, price, and what's inside are perhaps inevitable. The only constant is....
