Ardbeg 16yo 'Airigh Nam Beist'

General chat and talk about whisky.

They say "wee beastie" which is perhaps modern pig gaelic for "bunny rabbit" but then in the tasting notes they say that water "releases the beast" so the marketing literature is unhelpful in that regard. Probably leaves the master blenders shaking their heads but no more than in any other industry where the workers ask, "They say it does what!?! Doesn't but now I guess we'll have to make it..."

Well, I owed my Lucie some cash, and this afternoon I mysteriously happened to be in Oddbins in Battersea, where the Beastie is on sale, so, one quick phone call and a smattering of gentle persuasion later, I bought a bottle to give to her to give me for Christmas. Quick thinking, or whisky madness??

At any rate, something to look forward to! A little anticipation does no harm. I shall feed mine by keeping an eye on this thread...with a glass of 10 Y.O!

Like the man said, you can never own too many Ardbegs.

Gordon, great interview on Whisky Fun/Serge/Maltmadness, it's nice to put a face to a name.

...speaking of Serge, he's just done an interview with me on Malt Madness...in his whisky and music section. Big fun!

See Serge's site: http://www.whiskyfun.com/ Scroll down a bit for Spirit of Islay's piece (thanks for the bit about the LCBO, G!). I don't see Reggaeblues' bit yet.

Back on topic and speaking of the liquor board, still no quote on Beist so I sent a reminder note. May ring 'em tomorrow.
