Whiskies of the Future

Postby TheLaddie » Sat Nov 04, 2006 12:33 am

In the tube that holds my Aberlour 10YO bottle, there is a date of Nov 2405. (Yes 2405) I wonder if this the sell by date or best before date.

If so, how do they work it out? :?: :?: :) :)

This one got me thinking about future bottlings of malt. What will our great, great (etc) grandchildren be drinking in 2405?

Bruichladdich Links MXCLVII "Filey Pitch and Putt"?

Glenmorangie Ribena Cask Finish?

Port Ellen 1979 426 Year Old, Four Hundred and Fifth release, 5.2% vol

Any other ideas?

But you would only be able to drink it until you got back down to just above the legal age for drinking in your country....

Mr T is on the right track - "nostalgia" finishes will be all the rage.

And as Spanish sherry casks become ever more rare, so El Dorado and Lanliq finishes will gain in popularity.

Macallan Emva Cream 18yo, anyone?
