Laphroaig 12 year old Oloroso Sherry Cask Matured 53.1%

World of Whiskies are currently selling an official Laphroaig 12 year old Oloroso Cask Matured at 53.1%. The label says it has been bottled from just one Oloroso cask. Does anyone know anything about this bottling as it seemed cheap for a distillery bottling from a single cask?

This is a distillery bottling, single cask, 12y Laphroaig, really, at 35£?? Does anyone else around here find that hard to believe??

Bugger and my sis flew out of Heathrow to St Martin's the other week, don't suppose they'd allow the bottle on the boat she gets back, stripped out for racing, all luggage sent ahead to reduce weight. Would be a good botle for my father.

Everything, I mean everyWHISKY is possible kildalton! Not easy I'm sure, at that price, almost worthwhile flying out and getting it.

I think that there are not much left, I bought my ones
3 weeks ago, Terminal 2 at Heathrow, they only got 6 bottles
at World Duty Free.
I called them in advance to put it aside, which works quite
well, the people at the customers service are quite helpful.

I assume that there are approximately 200-300 around in all
BA duty free shops.

I do not know a lot about this bottling, even the people at the
distillery did not know anything about this bottling, I have already
asked them. They were surprised....
I know that it is made exclusively for World Duty Free from one Oloroso
cask, this is how I estimate the number of bottles.
Of course I can post a picture, if somebody could let me know how :oops:

The easiest way is to open a photobucket account.
Then when you are in what is called my album, click on browse, that will then take you to your pictures which are stored on your computer.
Double click on the picture you want to upload.
Then go back to photo bucket.
Click on Upload it will then upload.
Then edit the picture by resizing it to website size.
Then click on the imgcode.
Copy and then paste it into your whisky mag posting.

It really is simple.

I got to know when one of my whisky pals had seen it
at the airport and had let me know. Luckily I had the
possibility to travel via Heathrow a few days after.
But in general, the people at the customer support
of the Duty Free are always willing to put away the
bottles for you when you call them in advance.

WOW at Edinburgh Airport seemed to have plenty when I bought mine last Friday. I only spotted it by pure chance in amongst all the other bottles, as I was looking for Ardmore at the time. I thought it was cask strength Laphroaig as it is in the same dark green tube, but did a double take when I saw it was 12 years old instead of 10.

The lady who served me at WOW didn't have any additional info about it. I was surprised that such a limited edition version of a distillery bottling was on sale with no fanfare. The small print on the label says "Specially selected and bottled for World Duty Free from just one Oloroso cask, to create a rare balance of peat smoke and subtle sweetness". It seems strange that the main part of the label doesn't state it's single cask Laphroaig, yet the small print suggests it is. I've emailed Laphroaig for some info about it, so I'll post when I get a reply.
I wish I'd bought more, but the wife was going ballistic about how long I'd already spent in the shop!!!

bloody hell, the bottle got listed at 17.31 and went back into look again at it, its now 18.00 and the "invalid item" message is coming up, ebays took it of.... bit harsh surley..

I'm wondering if Laphroaig is testing the waters again like they did with the QC to FOL only, then turned around and released it globally. I sure hope so. This may be another reason the 10yo is being pulled back. Shhh, this is how rumors get started. Forget I said anything...until next year. :oops:
