TOOK MY WIFE TO GREECE FOR A VACATION ON HER BIRTHDAY

Postby HAPPYTURIST » Thu May 08, 2008 11:58 pm

11 I took my wife with me last month for a Greece vacation, took her to the Aegean Sea, to my favourite place Rhodes, an island that in the ancient world was seen as the island of the sun God Helios, who crossed the firmament with his team every day. The bronze statue ´´ Colossus of Rhodes ´´, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient world. Today this Greek Island with its 2000 years history is a fascinating mix of beaches, nature and testimonials. After my solocigar habano, some lovely Greek Salad with this excellent feta cheese, and two Ouzo glasses, first morning in the place, we left the Hotel and went for a walk through the old town of Rhodes, is at the same time a ramble through the thousands of years of history of the city from the Archaeological Museum with its ancient statues, graves and ceramics. Not far away we found modern boutiques, bars and cafes which invite us to pass away the time and take a stroll.
The formidable city walls from the 15th Century are wonderful; you can walk as we did it, along part of them to enjoy a wonderful view of the old town. The Turkish quarter with its oriental mosques, is also worth seeing.

If you read a few of Happyturist's posts, he sounds really familiar to the other person who was trying to sell cigars here on the forum. Until Matt kindly gave him the boot.

:P :P

but this is his first post!!

give him a chance! He's not selling any brand. Here, we'll sort him out...

Turist! thanks for reminding me of my wonderful time on Greece in 2001. we went to Paxos, via corfu if I remember rightly. Many nights spent under magical skies eating by the harbour...and before bed, a wander to a bar on the harbour which always served me a generous portion of Dalwhinnie to sip and savour under the stars...and then back to our tiny villa on this tiny island. And before sliding in between the sheets with my lovely wife-to-be, an anything - but -tiny dram of something I found in the enchanted backalley shops of Corfu as we waited for our ferry to Paxos...a dusty box containing a bottle of 16 year old Lagavulin!

the perfect dram for the perfect holiday.

Happiturist, what is YOUR favourite holiday whisky?

Laga who??

...or should I say "snap!"

I received a Lagavulin Distillers Edition 1991 for MY birthday from a dear old friend.

He's even dearer now!

Laga 16 was the whisky that got me into whiskies. Still in love with it 9 years later.

Happy birthday indeed J McGill! Congratulations DEFINITELY in order.
