Well, the day itself is gone, but I am having a little celebration in the pub tonight with a few regulars and friends.

Unfortunately, the day itself was not a good one, everything went wrong :(

Sabine had booked a table for breakfast in a lovely hotel overlooking one of Bavaria's lakes. It was almost two hours drive away and we were late setting off, then jammed up in traffic .. etc ... She rang them to say we were still on our way and they denied knowledge of any reservation

Eventually we did get there and they made us welcome, but it took quite some time to relax again after the trip.

A few other things continued to go wrong, just small things, but it made it a rather stressful day as opposed to the nice relaxing day out we would have liked.

So, I am now another year older, which makes me 29 for the umpteenth time

I don't worry, **it happens.

At least this year my Birthday was better than last year when Sabine was in hospital recovering from a serious infection which almost killed her.

As bad as the day was, I spent it with Sabine amidst wonderful Alpine scenery and in glorious sunshine. In fact, the only sunny day this last week :D

Happy Birthday Doggy!

I'm trying to find something nice to take along and open tonight. Something to share with the folks in the bar.

I already have an opened Glenfarclas QC and an IB Jura which I shall lavish on anyone wishing to try them, but I also want one more bottle.

I'll go have a look around and see what I can find.

So my party is over and I have even slept a little.
I managed to take the first train home this morning (at just before 6am!!) and have slept a few hours.

The bottles which I finally decided upon for my guests were:
An IB Jura
The remains of a Glenfarclas 1987 QC
The remains of a Glendronach
A Balblair Elements
A superb OMC 19y Glenrothes

My staff and regular customers gave me Birthday cards and a pair of wonderful Spiegelau whisky glasses, personally engraved for me. :D

Thanks for the well wishes guys!
Well ahead of you! I couldn't bring myself to spend $1100+ on a Glenfarclas '58 Family Cask so I opened two whiskies I had stashed for special occasions, an Ardbeg 24yo 1977 and a Brora 26yo 1977 Douglas Laing Old & Rare (50 years total).
The year 1977 has no significant meaning to me other than it seams to be a great year for whiskies!

Cheers!
