Glenfeddich Special Reserve

Postby Sadie » Mon Mar 02, 2009 2:47 am

I was given a 1.75L bottle of Glenfeddich Special Reserve, with-out one of those paper strips across the top of the cap, like the liquor stores have, and I've had this bottle, which is in a gold colored swing holder, since about 1988. How do I tell if it's got any value? Markings on the bottom of the bottle: A number "6" and three numbers in a row "6198". Never been opened. Am I sitting on a gold mine???

No gold mine I'm afraid to say Sadie. I think this is the equivalent to today's 12. Value - I'm not so sure, there is a 70cl one on ebay, keep an eye on that and extrapolate the price accordingly perhaps say x2 or x3 at most (assuming this is the same bottle).

:( Unfortunately, aside from the odd format, your Glenfiddich "Special Reserve" is the basic stuff and it won't age in the bottle either. Personally, I would just drink the stuff - with a few friends, of course. If you want to make money on old bottles, go for wine...
