I like Jim Beam Black best of the group listed.

Why, I think I'll have some now!

I don't think bourbon has nearly the variation that Scotch does. Most are pretty decent, some are just plain boring, a few are really good and just a handful have something truly exceptional about them (IMHO).

Booker's is super hot. I'll usually add water to bring it down to 50-55%. There's something savory and meaty in there that I don't find in any other bourbon. In a word, exceptional.

Some notable (specific) omissions as regards the provided list, including...

Knob Creek
Elijah Craig
Blanton's
Eagle Rare
Evan Williams
Maker's Mark
Old Weller
Pappy Van Winkle

And even at that, it's very, very difficult to pick a 'favourite', as my choices (just as is the case with other whiskies and spirits) tend to depend on the 'demands of the moment'.

Yeah I did not intend it to be a complete list...I was just curious out of those choices. Next time I do a poll I will try to make it more complete..sorry. Stagg comes from the Buffalo Trace distillery, but it's way different than the standard Buffalo Trace bottling.

It is Sean, but there's also an inexpensive Buffalo Trace bottling under the distillery name and at 40%. It's also nice, but not a patch on the big guns. There's just so many great bourbons listed above that I can't choose sensibly.

Wild Turkey (particularly Rare Breed) is my favourite so far, but I haven't tried enough bourbons to be able to vote on this one.

I voted GTS, but I agree with pkt77242 that Buffalo Trace distillery produces a wide range of generally excellent products right from the "regular Buffalo Trace" through the big guns like Stagg and Elmer T. Lee.

Products from this distillery are in general my favourite.

Cheers!

for me elijah craig 12 yr is tremendous......i even dare say it is better than most $80 bourbons......it may not be a post graduate sort of bourbon like the wellers and the older van winkels or the staggs...etc...but for the price..hell at any price..it is most wonderful

but for me the real winner is buffalo trace..unlike any other bourbon i have ever tried.....so unique and wonderful in my mouth...and yet so inexspensive...

Oh - one other thing:

I recently had a chance to try Basil Hayden's after a few people gave it rave reviews: unfortunately, i'm not going to be one of those people as I can't say that I was particularly impressed with it (though I was impressed with the 3+ ounce pour that the bar gave me!). To bad... For me, Buffalo Trace Distillery products overall still remains my faves :)

I choose Wild Turkey specifically Wild Turkey 101 it's what I drink the majority of the time. It's very good, it's at a good price and I can buy it anywhere. The best tasting bourbon I've ever had is William Larue Weller from the BTAC. But it's expensive, hard to come by, for me nearly impossible to get.

Blanton's is my first choice, but I picked Woodford Reserve of the poll choices as it is such a well rounded ever day drinker.

Well I did the impossible and got the whole BTAC and found that GTS is every bit as good as WLW. I'm hard pressed to pick one over the other. But wow is this stuff good.

Sorry

BTAC = Buffalo Trace Antique Collection

GTS = George T Stagg

WLW = William Larue Weller

The use of acronyms is just standard on other web sites.

So far I've had Jim Beam black and white, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare 10 and Jack Daniel's.

Jim Beam Black, Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are a lot better than the other 2.

JBB has more rye in it than ER10 and BT. I prefer BT and ER.

ER10 might be a little better than BT, but the difference is not big enough for me to spend the extra money.

I voted Buffalo Trace but that's actually more for the whole group, because everything they make is quite excellent: Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, Eagle Rare, George T. Stagg, Sazerac...
