Deathmatch--Uno Mas

Postby talisker10 » Thu Sep 03, 2009 8:43 pm

No great SMS around, just some blends and bourbons..Johnnie Walker Black or Wild Turkey 101.
I'd go for the WT.

Going with JWb to make this a fair fight.

I still struggle with most Scottish blends. Chalk me up for the bourb.

Turkey all the way. I admit I am a little biased as I drank the stuff a lot while I was a dooman in the clubs (It was what the bartenders drank too).

Wild Turkey 101...

It was a good fight until that knockout punch landed.

I like JWB just fine, but WT is just the tops. To me, it is kinda scotch-like..some flavors remind me of a Highland whisky.

Close but I went with WT 101. The extra abv puts it over the top.

I'm with you there borgom. Though I guess if I killed my taste buds with the Wild Turkey I could then stomach the JW.

..well I guess if I do another "low-end" poll I need to include water as a third option. :)

I think Wild Turkey is a solid whiskey, if you can get past the spices in it. But Then again alot of bourbons that are not high quality but are not ultra low quality seem to have that extra pepper and spices in it, which are a bit unwieldy.

Well as far as a blended scotch JW Black is sublime in its class. As far as a bourbon, WT 101 is sublime in its class as well :D
I won't vote because one is scotch whisky the other bourbon whiskey. We are talking about two completely different tastes here :)

Gov, my intent was that you were in a location (OK that would never happen in Chicago..but would sure happen in Texas) that ONLy had blends and few bourbons..what would chose...or nothing I guess.

Well if I had to choose, it would be JW Black then only because I prefer scotch over bourbon the majority of the time :P

JWB for me beats out WT.

Now an interesting death match would be Johnnie Walker Black versus Cragganmore. Both smokey and malty, one a blend and the other a SMS. For me, Cragganmore kicks serious ass!

Talisker, you gotta try it. I am just thunderstruck by how good it is. I had it last night and realized that is was better than many 18yr old single malts. This is one very great scotch.
