HTH DM pt 7 the Value

Time for a value Deathmatch! I could not decide on only 2 so I put a 3rd choice in for the only time a 3rd will apear. I know most of people on this forum enjoy the malts that are above these, but some times a value malt need to be purchased as times get tough.

I voted for Aberlour, it's a big malt in a cheap package, that gets better ever year. Second would be the Glenlivet. I don't mind the 'fiddich either but it has to come third in this company.

I voted for the 'Livet, but here in Houston I can buy Highland Park 12 for the same price as these three (around $36) so I would definitely go with that, or Lahproaig 10 for $40.

How can I vote for something that really isn't available except for mom & pop shops ($40-50) that have it way over priced. In my area Aberlour 10 just isn't available. It's now Aberlour 12 and 16.

I think I'll be the sole vote for Glenfiddich 12. I much prefer the deeper maltiness and fruits that I get in Glenfiddich 12 to the lighter fruits and coconut in the Glenlivet 12. That said, I buy more of the Glenlivet 12 than the Glenfiddich 12 because the Glenfiddich 15 is about $5 more than both of 'em.

The Aberlour just wins out for me over the Glenfiddich.
That combination of a sage dose of Sherry wood and the typical Aberlour mintiness makes for a nice dram.
They're all quite close, though, and I have been surprised by how good some recent releases of 12-year old Glenlivet have tasted.
