Best whisky for a friend?

Postby Deano0417 » Fri Apr 11, 2014 9:38 pm

Basically I have this friend I met at university and we are pretty close however I am leaving for a different university next year and want to buy him a present. The main thing he loves is whisky, therefore I want your opinions on what I should buy him?

I am looking at around a 50 GBP limit and was contemplating buying from somewhere like the Master of Malt website (any experience with it?)

That really depends on your friend's likes/dislikes. If he has been exploring whiskies for awhile, he may be interested in trying and independent bottling. I am more familiar with the Whisky Exchange. They have done some pretty good bottles in the past. They bottle under Specialty Drinks Limited. I saw a nice CI for under $50 (big peat). There was also an Aberlour (no peat).

Without knowing whether sherry and peat are turn ons/offs, it is really hard to be more specific.
