Re-Barreling...your thoughts

I have just emptied my first bottle of Scotch into my new 2L American Oak barrel.(I actually retail them)
I used a bottle of Glenfiddich 21yr old Gran Reserva  , but I still have at least another bottle to put in.

I have another barrel which I intend to fill with bourbon so I will run another poll later :D

I also have an oak barrel, which, coincidentally came from Australia, I fill mine with blends with the odd splash of malt. I have found that it really can improve your average blend and give it a mellowness that was not there before.

Cheers

I've tried home vattings previously, without much success.

I'd certainly want to experiment in small glasses before committing an entire bottle or more to a re-barrelling and vatting.
