I only have three open. I wish I could afford to have at least 30 open so I could more easily match my whisky and mood. Although my liver is probably thankful there is not more immediately at hand.

Just have four open at the moment, (my poor liver!!) but oddly enough, the nearer they get to being finnished, the quicker they get drunk !?

The four would last a month (one a week!!?? but not all to myself!!).

Any thoughts on the relation of number of open bottles to the length of time one has been an “enthusiast” for? When first getting into SMSW, I wanted to try all different sorts of whisky out there & would go and buy/open a new bottle every week. But now that I’ve tried a good amount of available stuff out there, there isn’t that initial extreme curiosity factor that may have originally led to me having a decent amount of open bottles.

I've just opened 2 new bottles tonight. That's 5 total now, which is about right for me. I like to have a bit of variety, but not so many opened I feel I have to drink up, rather than enjoy. I'm a bit worried I guess they'll go bad, turn, before I get to enjoy them.

For me it's four at the moment. I usually like to finish a bottle before I open a new one.

Nine now; including the wonderful 19yo Caol Ila from McGibbons. About 4 are low, but are newer bottles, so I am packing up samples for friends for holiday gifts.

I have 5 currently opened at the moment. I generally try to keep several different styles open, because my mood generally dictates what type of whiskey I wish to drink.

9 currently. As many others have indicated, I too struggle with my inner demons tempting me to open yet another bottle. I've tried really hard not to have too many open at a time, but it's really hard not to open an old favourite or a brand new (to me) bottling.
At the moment I'm trying not to open:
Glenrothes 87
Ardbeg Still Young
Glen Livet 15 French Oak

But a couple of whisky buddies are dropping by tomorrow, bad influences.

Too many, I admit...

Around twenty at the moment but should be less and I'm trying to keep the number at about ten.

Ok then..."too many" is 15.

...not counting the recently finshed Lag 16, Lag 12, Monkey Shoulder, FF Bladnoch 10, Balvenie 15 waiting to have their labels removed and stuck in a picture frame...

there's a "Beast" waiting to be opened on Christmas day, and me and my Lucie are going on an alcohol free detox 'til then.

Roll on the retox!

At the moment i have 9 bottles open.
But my 20 YO BenRiach and 14 YO Caol Ila from duncan Taylor´s Whisky Galore series, is only 1/8 full.
And then my 12 YO Redbreast and 10 YO Bushmills, hos both gone sour, so im done with the Irish Whiskeys
And the i have my JD, which i only use for mixin drinks.
So that makes 6 bottles of drinkable whisky :o

Drink up! They're not going to get any better at that level.

14 at the moment. 3 of them being 20cl's, which are down to or below half :D
Most of the rest are also below half, so I'm trying to finish them off, the longest opened first.

The goal is to get well below 10 before opening new, but I'm easily tempted. Christmas and New Year celebrations seem to be good oportunities to open new one's.

And our now traditional "Around Scotland" tasting 30th december is soon coming up - probably 6 new opened at least.
