In a shop 30 kilometers (20 miles) from my home I can get a full liter Ardbeg 10 for 40 euros (which is equivalent to 28 euros for a regular 0.7 liter bottle). Same for the Laphroaig QC. :)

Macallan 12
Glenfarclas 12
Ellenstown 10
Springbank 10
Dalmore 12
Highland Park 18 (Currently Hi Time Wine Cellars is running it for $50 :P )

There are plenty of Signatory and Whisky Galore bottlings that are also favorites. Aultmore immediately comes to mind.

I can get the Aberlour batches for around $53 on a consistent basis. I much prefer the Talisker 18 at $60. The Caol Ila bottlings are very nice at $52 (12) and $58 (18).

Ok, so I love many whiskies plus or minus a little bit of the $50 range.

Under $50 US is tough, and limits the import options. I would say:

Laphroaig QC (about $50)
Dalmore 12 yo ($25)
Highland Park 12 yo (can't remember last time I checked, but definitely under $50)
Buffalo Trace ($25)
Old Pulteney 12 yo ($35)
Eagle Rare 10 yo ($40)
