While not in the habit of drinking before noon there have been certain occasions when it seems the right thing to do.
Many years ago my wife and I showed up at the Edradour distillery just before it opened for the day. (This was back when it was a consistantly good dram). Even if you are not fond of Edradour, the distillery is one of the most picturesque in the land.
We walked into the greeting room and sat down. A gentlemen came in and said apologetically that the tour guide was not there yet. It was just after 9AM. He said in the mean time you can watch this video.
He returned a couple of minutes later with a tray full of drinks and said,"Normally this is for the end of the tour but since the guide's not here, help yourself.
I hesitated for about 15 secs...it was early May and there were a few flakes of snow falling outside. It was then that I realized why the Scots say "Have a dram to take the chill off. Never worried about the hour since.
The other exception to not drinking before noon is my annual fishing trip. Then it starts with coffee with something and the scotch starts shortly after breakfast.
