How many open bottles do you normally have?

I'd say I'm up to about 40+ right now even with the 4 I've finished in the last two weeks. Of course, it also means that I only have about 25 sealed at the moment.

back to the matter at hand: i only have 6 open bottles- but thats the only whisky i have anyhow. i envy you all wil like 50.

Not really. I haven't noticed any ill effects.

I am up to 50 open (or is that down to, I am never quite sure). Only 7 unopened.

35 single malt scotch
2 scotch blends
7 bourbons
2 irish
2 rye
1 canadian
1 japanese

Currently 17 open. I tend to replace empties straight away so I guess around this number will be maintained. Finances permitting of course.

Usually 3 or 4. I'm still pretty new at this. Right now I have Laphroaig 10, 15 and Quarter Cask, HP 12, JW Black and Black Bottle. So six now.

10-15 is my goal. Beyond that things get cluttered or I have to start looking for other, less convenient, places to store them.

At the moment I've got 28 open. Five of those are 375ml but the rest are full-sized bottles. I've also got 15-20 mini (50ml) bottles open right now but that's just because I've been on a bit of a bourbon kick lately and those are readily available around here.

There are another 25-30 bottles I'd like to pick up before the year is out to wrap up my whisky tour. Then I'll choose the best 10 or 12 for regular stock and leave a few slots open for rotating trials.

Down from 40 to 24... Plan on keeping this number I can manage :lol:

I spotted a few variations too but I've been lucky so far, I thought they were rather for the better. I stick to one rule though, when reaching the lower 1/4, the bottle has to be emptied in priority.

I keep it below 10 bottles now. I'm at 8 at the moment and will soon purchase an Irish and a Canadian, bringing me up to my limit.

I keep no unopened bottles of whisky. I drink them all.

Tim, the wife has started to notice as well. The other day she started to count them and I quickly had to suggest we go get ice cream so she wouldn't find out how many there are.

Doug, a little of both, my purchasing has increased in anticipation of not buying for a couple of months after the baby is born, and I am drinking slightly less as I am working more hours and getting the house ready for the baby.

I'm up to 17. But the NÃ durra won't last 'till last light tomorrow, I think. It'll be hard not to open the replacement bottle straight away. Not to mention the Yamazaki 18 when that arrives.

I usually have between 6 and 10 open: several Islays from different distilleries or different expressions from one, then a blend and something sweeter. I almost never have closed bottles: I buy bottles to try them, and I usually can't stand the suspense! :lol:
