Tokaij finishes

I was just wondering whether or not there actually exists people that likes those Tokaij finishes?

I think i have tried 2 whiskies finished in a Tokaij cask, and i hated both of them

I voted yes but will freely admit it took four bottles of the Springers Tokaji before I could really enjoy it...

The Springbank is the only one I've tasted, once, some time ago. I remember it being very different, not the sweetness I expected, but rather salty, and a fascinating color hard to describe. I'd like to taste it again to forumlate another more developed opinion.

I too voted yes, although it's not one of my favourite styles to be honest.

Actually, come to think of it, I've only had a Tokaji matured whisky - Edradour Batch #1 - and find it to be very sweet but quite drinkable, even though it's definitely more a winesky (to quote the Malt Maniacs) than a whisky.

I rather like the Benromach Tokaji finish. I am a fan of Tokaji per se having worked in a Children's hospital in Hungary for a few months when I was a medical student. I still have a 1981 5 puttonyas bottle laid down.

I can understand why it may be a taste many would not acquire. The Longrow was an abomination.

If we are talking Hungarian drinks has anyone had Palinka or Unicum?

Quite enjoy the Arran Tokaji Finish (55%ABV). In this instance, the additional cask treatment does seem to complement the inherent style of the whisky.

I've had the Springbank and the Arran. I wasn't sure about the Springbank, but I thought the Arran was grand.

I had the Springbank Tokaji, and I thought it tasted like soy sauce. I hate soy sauce!!!

Springer here too. I just didn't think it worked well with Springbanks base whisky. It seemed at odds with itself.

My brother and I were drinking the Arran Malt Tokaji last night and we both thought it was fantastic. Unfortunately it's been once of those bottles where I didn't really start to appreciate it until about halfway through.
