What should I drink tonight?

Postby IainB » Tue Sep 02, 2008 5:01 pm

I should be working but I'm in a bad mood and am really only thinking about what to drink tonight - can't decide so I thought I'd conduct a poll. (Not original I know but I'm having a really indecisive day).

I really like the looks of the Islay lineup, but the Taliskers look really nice too!! So does the American selection. Hmmm....seems I'm a bit indecisive today too. I always drink whatever I'm feeling like at the time. What you feel like now, could be something completely different later.

I hope your day gets better, enjoy whatever you choose!

Talisker line up is good, but maybe there's a bit more quality/variety in the selection of Islays

I could, but I'd have to open 3 bottles and the missus is complaining about the number of open ones already.

Damn I wish you hadn't said that because its really tempting. :)

1.Wait 'til you're in a GOOD mood B4 you drink...you'll enjoy them more, and less likely to change your mind mid dram as I tend to do if at all on edge.

2.If I was lucky enough to be able to take the Islay flight I'd have the Laga last...

3. \\why not be outrageous and take one from each? Say, Sazerac , Talisker 18, Laga 21?

...just to add to the indecisiveness of your day!!

You're right about the mood thing. In fact when I'm in particularly bad form I tend to make a point of not drinking - I think that could be a bad road to go down for someone, if he's honest , probably drinks too much whisky already.

Anyway I was in mcuh better form by the time I got home, and despite the votes, the only thing I really wanted was the Talisker - first of all the 25yo had only just arrived and secondly it was the only thing I hadn't already tried. So I went with about 25mls each of the 10 and 18 and had two full measures (35ml) of the 25.

Love the 25 - normally when I've tried older versions of the peaty stuff the peat tends to be more subdued - not so in this case. It had, of course, all the usual talisker peppery stuff etc. but seemed to me to have a higher peating level. Anyway, this has now joined my personal list of favourites.

Have a headache this morning though - ususual as I didn't have too much last night.

I voted for Talisker as the 10yo is a real tonic, but what was inexcusably missing was Redbreast 15yo; now that would have you right as rain.

I'm down to my last 9 bottles - I'm trying to make it last. I seem to be going through one a month so I'm hoping to make it through september without opening another one.
Doing well so far, but then it's only the 4th!

I started to go for the US selection, but opted for the Talisker instead. Very little can compete with that. Perhaps I'll go have one just to confirm this to myself---again. :D
