Discussion had been moved over from another thread. You could discuss as the subject suggested. :D

So tell me, which should be elminated from a vote for the monthly distillery tastings in 2009. I have highlighted those that correspond to having been tasted in the last 18 months + January 2009. However, some of the distilleries are not readily available or get to be quite expensive. As an example, Ben Wyvis. I want to get this pared down so that we can vote for 2009 tastings.

My suggestions for removal are:

Banff
Ben Wyvis
Brora
Cardhu
Coleburn
Glen Flagler/Killyloch
Kinclaith
Ladyburn/Ayrshire

Other possible suggestions based on the limited nature in US:

Allt-a-Bhainne
An Cnoc/Knockdhu
Auchroisk
Braeval
Dailuaine
Glenglassaugh
Glenlochy
Glenugie
Inverleven

So, does anyone have opionions on whether to include/exclude the two lists? Any additional that should be excluded from a vote?

My suggestion is that these others could be part of some of the other tastings Matt has suggested.

Hmm, poll is limited to 25 entries. Seems like we'll need to do look at a multiple poll to determine the 11. I'll give this some thought by Friday.

Any other thoughts?

I'll think about this some too, it's just quite busy over the next day or so for me. Good work Ganga getting this going. Thanks!

A couple of lists here, don't know if it helps or hinders.

Firstly, runner-ups in polls for 2008 tastings:
An Cnoc
Balblair
Ben Nevis
Benriach
Bowmore
Brora
Bruichladdich
Bunnahabhain
Clynelish
Cragganmore
Dalmore
Edradour
Glengoyne
Glen Grant
Glen Scotia
Glendullan
Glenfarclas
Glenmorangie
Glenrothes
Longmorn
Old Pulteney
Rosebank
Scapa
St. Magdalene (Linlithgow)
Strathmill
Shout up if I've missed any of the runner-ups. I noticed that many more people vote in the polls than join in the tasting. And some of the runners up received no votes in the poll.

Next is supermarket malts that haven't been tasted in 2008, excluding runner-ups - working on the theory that from a glance through the Supermarket Deals people sneak in a lot of whisky with their grocery shop ;)
Aberfeldy
Ardmore
Arran
Auchentoshan
Dalwhinnie
Glen Moray
Glenkinchie
Jura
Singleton
Tobermory/Ledaig
Oban
Tamdhu
Knockando
I'm sure I've missed some, I can't remember all.

Aberfeldy in Morrisons, it's been many months since I've been in so can't remember when. Ardmore in Asda in June, not looked for it since so don't know if it's still there.

Possible suggestion.

    * Remove last years pics
    * Remove closed distilleries (these can be done as special tastings)
    * Post the list that you would like to sample, and then we will just tally what has the most votes. (a poll with out a poll)
