About...
For those of you who do not know what these are about, they run for generally 12+ hours and we all sit down (at various times) to taste a range of whiskies and share our notes and comments on the forum. Have a look in the Live Tasting forum for past events.

They are a great way to meet people on the forum, chat about your experiences and learn something new about the whiskies you have, and we all end up having a good time.

Just getting ready to pour my first rye, Old Potrero 18th centruy style.

Old Potrero
Brand : Old Potrero Expression : 18th Century Style Whiskey 100% Rye
Nose : Gasoline, very spicy, alcohol, fresh bread, dough. Palate : There is the gasoline again, lots of rye spiciness. Thyme, and paprika and some fresh bread again. Finish : Long and strong. Very sharp spiciness that almost blunts out anything else. Comment : A very interesting whisky but a little over the top. Colour : - Score : 0

Thomas H Handy Sazerac 2008
Brand : Sazerac Expression : -
Nose : Nice and spicy. Oregano, pepper, slight corn, and a hint of orange and cherry Palate : Starts of very spicy, with some pepper, chili powder, and orange. Finish : slight bitter cherry and pepper. Comment : Much better than the Old Potrero. Colour : - Score : 0

Old Potrero
Brand : Old Potrero Expression : 18th Century Style Whiskey
Nose : Alcohol, vanilla, oak and fresh plastic. Something warm and soft, almost like musk. There's also notes of creamy soda icing sugar and a little herb & spice. Palate : Sweet, oily and honeyed with some oak and spice. Quite chewy. A few seconds in the mouth and it's all sweet and fizzy - Wizz Fizz Finish : Very long. Initially chewy and mouth watering then woody and quite dry. Comment : When I first opened this whisky it was dominated by very unusual off notes which I'm beginning to recognise as the result of a "wide cut". A very distinct whisky which is hard to love and equally hard to forget. Try a freshly opened bottle for the full experience. Colour : Deep golden orange Score : 0

Old Potrero W/ water
Brand : Old Potrero Expression : 18th Century Style Whiskey 100% Rye
Nose : Apples, slight spice, and fresh cut grain. Better than without water Palate : Spicy apple and pear. slight caramel. Also a hint of cooked banana. Finish : Rye starts showing up and getting stronger. Comment : Better with water than without. This is my first time having this with water. Very good. Colour : - Score : 0
