Ok, we've got 4 finalists. Please choose one. February 6 was selected as the date.

Peat Fest gets my vote, very little difference between this and Islay Time for me but I'm desperate to try Amrut peated and this may be just the reason (note reason not excuse MrsT) I need to buy a bottle.

I'm happy either way really, Islay Time or Peatfest. It's just another excuse for me to open a new bottle or two, also to try some samples I've had hanging around as well! :D :D :D :D

I voted Islay Time just to keep it a little more focused. There are still plenty of distilleries/drams to choose from.

I wouldn't mind seeing a follow-up "non-Islay Peat Time" tasting, though.

Peat Fest should bring in several other whiskies. Benriach leaps to mind immediately.

True Jeff, but it reduces me from 12 bottles to 5! :insane:

Ok, you all heard it here. Nick is committing to to reviewing all 12 of his bottles for this tasting if we go with "Peat Time".

Boy, oh boy. Sounds like a great time Jeff. :D Thinking about what is on the shelves at the moment. I should have a Beist, a Bruichladdich, Bowmore. And probably can beg, borrow, steal some more.

Was close to 'Islay Time'... But for now I went with Peat... this gives me the option for Tali as well..

Cheers,

Why does the Peat Fest seem like Big Red back in '73? Hm, will have to start thinking about what to get out.

I voted Talisker. I am a little worried about the Peat Fest. Where do I start with this? I have 2 peated Bunna's
5 Ardbegs. 5 Laph's. 6 Laga's. 5 Tali's. 1 peated Benriach, 1 Brora, 2 PE's. 1 Bowmore. 2 CI's.
That is about 30 whiskies and I could very well have more. How many days do I try to do this in? Sigh. I forgot my Kilchoman and do we add HP's to this? :o

:insane: That just makes his bottles lighter Nick... :o

Sounds like a fun problem Sean... I would go from Lighter Peat to heavy... and just see how far you can get... :dead:

I have to agree with Mikey on this, I don't want to empty the 30+ whiskies

I am thinking of breaking it down over a couple of days. Maybe Tali one day, Laga one day, Laph one day, Ardbeg one day and the rest another. The goal is to not pickle my liver in one day. How is everyone else thinking of attacking this tasting?

Since it looks like a Peatfest, I've been contimplating this as well. Since I have about 40+ bottles/samples to try, there is no way I'll do them all either. So the way I'm going to attack it is to try and do notes on some samples that I haven't tasted yet, and same goes for the bottles I have open (ones I haven't done notes for that is).

And like Mikey said, I will start with the lightly peated stuff, and move along from there. :smoke:

How many days are in your weekend? It's kind of like 3 people all taking 50%...

I will probably stick with things that most people wont have. Independents and Non-standard bottlings. We only need so many A10 notes  ..

But Tali is not too far behind guys... we could see a push....

Cheers,

Personally fancied an opportunity to sample some Taliskers. But would not be averse to anything Islay.

For March how about Highland Park, Talisker (saying it doesn't win in Feb.), and Glendronach.

I voted but it's a secret. :P

Highland Park would be good for the next go around, if it hasn't been done recently.
