Mercian(Karuizawa) Ootori Aged 15 years 40%

Nose: A big bunch of bananas, vanilla, walnuts, oranges, firm grain and fresh cut timber. Sounds sweet, it is!

Palate: Smooth and creamy. Mashed banana's, more orange, sweet lemon and the same firm grain.

Finish: Is smooth, fairly short, with nutmeg, orange chocolate and basically the flavors from the palate.

Extremely Rare. No doubt there should be other bottles of this in Japan, but it's the only one I've ever seen for sale. The kicker, cost me 20 bucks!!!

mashed bananas and orange sound like one of my son's baby foods and tasty. You are a lucky man DT (and I am serious, that sound damn good).

Suntory Century 2001 Aged 15 Years 43%

Nose: Lots of orange and sweet lemon. Firm grain. Not dissimilar to the Mercian from before but without the banana's. Fresh dough, woodstain and something slightly chargrilled. Light florals.

Palate: Smooth like it's cousin the Suntory Royal Aged 15 Years. Zingy citrus, creamy, some oak, fresh dough. Excellent balance.

Finish: Is smooth, medium length, sweet and creamy with just enough sweet spice to add some oomph.

Well, since I was limited on the Canadian whiskies I thought I would contribute some more on the blended whiskies. Three Mitchell blends: Mitchell's NAS, Campbeltown Loch NAS, Campbeltown Loch 21. All are at 40%.

Something modern but still a bit unusual?

Hankey Bannister
12yo Regency
40% ABV
Spiegelau snifter

Nose: Light and creamy, vanilla dominates but underpinned by soft fruit... pears perhaps?
Palate: Sweet and toffee like on the delivery, then vanilla again and a hint of spice.
Finish: A bit drier, more bitter oak.
