Yup, the naughty naughties are up this month. Featured whiskies are those that were either distilled or bottled between 2000 and 2009. So what will you bring to the table?

So I'm going to do some a'bunadh tonight. Starting with batch 9, released 2002.

Nose: grapes, caramel, raisin bread, oranges
Palate: brandy-like, caramel, cinnamon
Finish: long, hot, spicey

Nose: caramel, mixed nuts, cinnamon, hints of cocoa
Palate: chocolate covered cherries, cinnamon, caramel, red apples, button mushrooms
Finish: long, spicey

Nose: peanut oils, caramel, cinnamon, strawberries, cedar dust
Palate: strawberry wine, cinnamon powder, red apples, oranges
Finish: long, cinnamon

Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 2000 D: 3-30-2000 B: 10:14:2009 Cask 40

N: Brown sugar, toffee, nutmeg and a little cinnamon. Big corn and some vanilla. A hint of nuts and a little milk chocolate. Rather sweet.
P: Big corn sweetness with Brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts. A hint of vanilla, nutmeg and some whole grain toast.
F: Medium on carmel corn, brown sugar and cinnamon. Sweet with some nuts.

A very sweet bourbon.

Batch 12, released 2004.

Nose: cedar shavings, valencia oranges, brittle, pomegranites
Palate: bitter chocolate, cinnamon, old apples, caramel
Finish: long, milder than the other batches

After all the a'bunadh, I thought I would stay with the sherry themed naughties. PlowedRiach. This is an OMG whisky.

Nose: pineapples, tea, pomegranites, strawberries, hard caramel, black pepper-ground, cinnamon, charcoal, butter, peaches
Palate: nutty, fermenting dark fruits, basil, cinnamon, caramel, oranges, black tea, pumpkin
Finish: long ,relaxed, tea, cinnamon, squash

Mccarthy's Single Malt, Oregon. Distilled July 15, 2008. Since it is 3yo it was probably distilled in 2005 or 2004.

N: Campfire smoke, peat, pears and a touch of apple. Some wet grass and pine tree.
P: Similar to the nose, Campfire smoke, pears and wet grass. A touch of apple peel and some saline.
F: Medium short on Peat, smoke and pears. Also a touch of grass.

A nice whisky but simple. Reminds me of Connemara.

I like McCarthy's Sean. It is complex for a young whisky.

Nose: butterscotch, heather straw, peanut oil
Palate: straw, mint, butterscotch
Finish: long, straw

Thomas H Handy Sazerac 2008 Release. Distilled Spring 2002, bottled 2008 63.75%

N: Big rye, some wheat, brown sugar, nutmeg and cloves. A little oak but not much.
P: Big rye spices, fresh cut rye, whole grain bread, cloves and nutmeg. Maybe a touch of citrus and oak.
F: Medium long on rye and whole grain bread. Maybe a touch of corn sweetness and cloves.

Big Rye Whisky. Damn.

Just returned from the Port Charlotte Hotel after a Pint of Angus Og , A Bunna peated duty free thingy (can't remember name.... Cranach Mhore ?) and a PC8 .

Nose: all spice, pumpkins, wax, mashed apples, transformation at the bottom of the glass of cooked apples coated in cinnamon, cooked squash at the top of the glass
Palate: cinnamon, pumpkin bread, bananas, bit of wax
Finish: long, pumpkin and bananas

Probably batch 10. All have mellowed since being opened. 9 and 11 were winey to start. 9 also was pungeant at the start. Batch 12 is more to my liking than the other 3.
