Yup, the naughty naughties are up this month. Featured whiskies are those that were either distilled or bottled between 2000 and 2009. So what will you bring to the table?

So I'm going to do some a'bunadh tonight. Starting with batch 9, released 2002.

Nose: grapes, caramel, raisin bread, oranges
Palate: brandy-like, caramel, cinnamon
Finish: long, hot, spicey

Nose: caramel, mixed nuts, cinnamon, hints of cocoa
Palate: chocolate covered cherries, cinnamon, caramel, red apples, button mushrooms
Finish: long, spicey

Nose: peanut oils, caramel, cinnamon, strawberries, cedar dust
Palate: strawberry wine, cinnamon powder, red apples, oranges
Finish: long, cinnamon

Batch 12, released 2004.

Nose: cedar shavings, valencia oranges, brittle, pomegranites
Palate: bitter chocolate, cinnamon, old apples, caramel
Finish: long, milder than the other batches

After all the a'bunadh, I thought I would stay with the sherry themed naughties. PlowedRiach. This is an OMG whisky.

Nose: pineapples, tea, pomegranites, strawberries, hard caramel, black pepper-ground, cinnamon, charcoal, butter, peaches
Palate: nutty, fermenting dark fruits, basil, cinnamon, caramel, oranges, black tea, pumpkin
Finish: long ,relaxed, tea, cinnamon, squash

Nose: butterscotch, heather straw, peanut oil
Palate: straw, mint, butterscotch
Finish: long, straw

I'd really like to get on here tonight especially as its Ganga's birthday, but my wife's brother has appeared in town on one of his rare UK visits so I've no idea if or when I'll make it and certainly no idea what shape I'll be in. :|

Just returned from the Port Charlotte Hotel after a Pint of Angus Og , A Bunna peated duty free thingy (can't remember name.... Cranach Mhore ?) and a PC8 .

Probably batch 10. All have mellowed since being opened. 9 and 11 were winey to start. 9 also was pungeant at the start. Batch 12 is more to my liking than the other 3.

OMC Glenrothes 1992-01, 19

Nose: bananas, herbs, cinnamon, lemon-fennel oil, leather
Palate: mild anise, dried spices and herbs, lemon juice
Finish: soft, lemon and licorice

This used to be a much bigger hit on the licorice. Probably a negative to those that like that component while for those that don't it is probably a positive.

G&M Dailuaine, 1997-09, cask 12612

Nose: lime, basil, leather, wax, yellow cake (not radioactive), neccos (peppermint)
Palate: spearmint, neccos (chocolate), fresh mint leaves, dried eucalyptus leaves and bark
Finish: very long, chocolate/neccos and mint

Wow, I really love this whisky tonight. I usually just like it.

Nose: vanilla, fishing harbour-kelp fish brine diesel oil, charred lemon rinds
Palate: charcoal briquets, lemon juice, seaside bonfire
Finish: lingering oiliness and simmering embers

As I continue to dram this whisky, I get some brownie or fudge mix...you know, when you first mix it up.
