I wonder if this will change for the worse, initial impression are quite favorable, but then I love strong sherry flavors, and this is loaded with them. The only downside is somehow it comes across as slightly soapy. But definitely plenty of warm spices.

97/13 SV Cragganmore UCF Cask 1130

Lots of tropical fruits on the nose, almost reminds me of pineapple juice mixed with spiced rum. But there is also a good bit of oak on the nose, almost coming across as sawdust.

The taste is quite awesome, apples, pineapple, butterscotch, and caramel.

95/15 SV Glenlivet UCF FF sherry Cask 144361


Nose: Roasting spiced nuts, very warm and comforting, with hints of Caramel apples.
Taste: Loads of spices, figs, hints of oranges,but mostly spices, not the most complex but incredibly satisfying.
Finish: A bit rough and over powering astringency, but a heck of a lot of spices, and figs.
Balance: Finish is a bit rough but not that bad.

I quite enjoy this whisky although it is somewhat simple in its appearance, or at least it is when "newly popped"

Talisker DE TD-S:5MY

Nose: Carrots, Wax, Kerosene, slight touch of sulfur. Also hints of hard candies, both butterscotch and caramel.

Taste: Incredibly rich and full bodied, good bit of peat but not over powering, mostly reminiscent of hard candies, with a touch of wax and vegetables.

Finish: Incredibly smooth, medium in length, but so very sweet and caramelized candy like. The peat is actually very subdued but so plesant.

Balance Impeccable, and basically perfect.

Glenlivet 16 Nadurra CS Batch 1111Q. 54.2% ABV

Nose: An abundance of butterscotch, green apples, slight hints of pear,and a lot of fresh spices, also apple juice.

Taste: Powerful, lots of fruits, and spices, bits of butterscotch and caramel. Absolutely delicious, with bits of pear, green apple, and kiwi.

Finish: Loads of kiwi, and mango, but a heck of a lot of sweetness and spice.

Balance: quite incredible.

I killed my OP 12 a while ago so was interested in opening up a replacement. Think the last one was from around 2009. This one is from 2011.

Nose: sweet malted barley, light sea breeze, fermenting pears, oak sawdust, mango peal, straw notes
Palate: Big dried grassiness, cracked barley, white pepper, Bartlett pears, mangos
Finish: moderate, grist and white pepper

N: Lots of salt, barley, dried mangoes and a touch of canned pineapple. A little apricot and wheat.
P: Salted dried mango, with canned pineapple. Some barley and hints of soft smoke. A faint touch of vanilla.
F: Salted dried mango with some canned pineapple drizzled in vanilla. A little barley as well.

Not quite as tropical as the last bottle but still damn good.

Popped an Ancient Age today. I know it is June but oh well. Not as sweet as many bourbs with a lot more rye and spice notes. Vanilla too.
