March - April 2013 Tasting

It's Spring cleaning time. Time to clean out those low bottles to make room for the new. So let everyone know how they fared at the end.... :iwbrnt:

Ok, I'm killing off an old, old bottle. Haig blended scotch whisky. This has to be from the alte 1970s or very early 1980s.

N: waxy sawdust, light peat, citrus notes
P: waxy peatiness, think earthy, lemon/orange juice
F: moderate but peat is a strength with a little nuttiness.

Killing Abunadh #42.

I am going to miss this bottle, nose is all sorts of good dark candies think mostly caramel and butterscotch, with some nice fruit notes mostly dark cherries, figs, with brown sugar. Taste has mellowed over time, still incredibly powerful, but lots and lots of dried fruits, dried cranberries, rasins, fruit leather, figs, dates, a touch of sweetness. Finish quite nicely carries over from the taste.

I am really going to miss this bottle... Abunadh has some hits and misses, I dare say #42 based on my own taste buds is a hit. That generally agrees with everything else I have seen about this batch.
