Have you any options you'd like to toss up for a tasting this month? How about Jura or maybe HP? I suspect most of us have a Highland Park or three floating around.

Doesn't matter to me. Recently been finishing up some of the bottles getting low. I have a couple of Talis available, Arran, Glenfarclas. I'd like to hold off untile Feb, Mar or April for Aberlour.

Okay... how about a Talisker tasting? Or, better yet, (in honour of The Bard who was born Jan 25, 1759 in Alloway, Ayrshire) Arran, the closest distillery as the crow flies. Arran just beats out Campbeltown for nearness with Glasgow and Glengoyne being closest on land.

I like Tallie and suspect most of us have some but an Arran tasting may be something to consider as well.

I'm a newbie to these live tastings, but would love to participate, and have a few Taliskers (10/DE/18/25) to follow along with.

Arran would be a little more problematic, as the local monopoly doesn't have any in stock.

Sometimes it's better to have only a few. I could start at 10 am and go all the way into the evening with Aberlour. Arran or Tali is fine with me. Maybe Tali this month and Arran for February?

I had wondered how widespread Arran was globally. Okay, unless someone has a better idea, how about a Talisker tasting this month? Once again the question comes up: what date and time?

Friday nights seem to be a good option as spouses seem to make plans for Saturdays.

From previous experience, starting at 7 pm GMT seems to work fairly well, although it puts the East Coasters at 2 pm (1:30 in Nfld) and Central Standard (Winnipeg) at 1 pm. California/ BC is still at 11:00 am but if we (the rest of us) hang around long enough they catch up with a vengeance.

A staggered start of 7 pm GMT and 10 pm GMT might be an option to try as well. This later start would put the West Coast at 2 pm, Winnipeg at 4 pm, the East Coast at 5 pm (Yeah yeah, 4:30 in Nfld) and still allow UK/Europe to play a bit with us in our sandbox.

So, how about Talisker - whatever you own - on Friday January 18 at 7 pm GMT and 10pm GMT? We can start with a basic Tallie 10 yo, that many will have, and then run up through the older age and DE offerings. If you don't have a Tallie, pick another SM and join in the fun, someone will always have a version of what you're enjoying to compare notes with.

In practise what really happens is a few of us come on too early and stay on too late and everyone else weaves in and out as they are able. Matt can set up a thread for us if we ask, once the date and time is firmed up. Sometimes we even get a special guest to answer questions.

Does this date meet most everyone', that wants to participate, agreement?

I can certainly participate for a while on the evening of the 18th, although I have to attend a "Live Live" tasting later in the evening. But I think that I can bear the burden for the cause!

Oh darn, I was hoping that was your weekend off! Maybe we could set up a little post Robbie Burns night followup on Saturday January 26th? I'm planning on being a bit more careful this year and not get too blootered before the Friday night festivities are done.
