Laphroaig Live Tasting

Laphroaig Live Tasting

Postby Matt2 » Wed Nov 21, 2007 12:56 pm

As many of you know Laphroaig are doing a live tasting tonight (Wed 21st Nov) at 8pm GMT.

I am really excited to announce something of a first for Laphroaig; we are holding a live, global, online whisky tasting and debate today at 20:00 GMT. The webcast will last around 40 minutes and will include a live question and answer session where you will be invited to put your questions to the panel. This will include Robert Hicks - master blender, Jim Murray - author of the famous 'Whisky Bible' and of course myself.

The event will cover four highly distinctive Laphroaig expressions; 10 Year Old, 10 Year Old Cask strength, Quarter Cask and our new Oloroso expression the 27 Year Old. You will also have the opportunity to vote live for a fifth expression for the panel to taste.

And why not join us here in this topic for an after hours Laphroaig tasting and chat session.

Well that was kind of fun at 12pm PST. I did not have the lot (27yo for sure). But I was able to join in on the Cask Strength and the Quarter Cask.

I added a Signatory 12yo 1990 while they were playing with the 27yo (would like to try that).

They never got to my question. But it seems like they had a lot.

I kind of liked Jim's thing of tilting the head back. I tried it and it worked for the cask strength. Might have to add it to my tastings.

Cheers,

That program was really excellent. More enjoyable than events at wembley. It was like being at a masterclass. I hope that we get to see more of these in the future. It was interesting to see the chemistry between Rob Hicks and Jim Murray. How they had quite contrasting views about the whisky.

The 27 yearold is £459. I won't be buying one this week. Especially when even some of the ladies said they preferred the QC. And I thought Murray was a good presenter but he didn't really know his onions.

Anyway back to Wembley Beckham is on for the second half.

Hmmmm.....

I will have to look at downloading it from a bittorrent site later on. And watch it with a glass or two of Laphroaig QC (to keep the thread on topic)....

Never mind, a good Laphroaig never lets you down, does this mean we are out of the World Cup?

I was hoping it would have been a real online tasting where everybody could attend, for example by buying a minituare bottles of each whisky to be tasted ... :(

Thanks for posting it Matt! And when the heck is football/soccer, or football for that matter more important then whisky?? Just one of those things I'll probably never understand, or hope not to!
