Can we have an option of "don't really mind as long as we know well in advance"?

That's the one I picked because obviously sometimes both Friday and Saturday will not be suitable. If I'm there, I'm there.

Friday nights I'm usually in the pub doing a whisky tasting of my own from 6pm anyway. If I manage to tear myself away and I've not had too many then I'll join in...

If we make it a Friday one month and a Saturday the next and rotate that way then that would give everyone a fair shot at being able to join in, maybe?

Fridays generally work out better for me since my wife usually has somethng planned for Saturdays. However, I like Butephoto's idea of alternating the days to get more people involved. :thumbsup:

And if the tasting night is on a Friday that month, then we can have a tea tasting on the Saturday!

Why not just make it a two-day affair, one to remember? :shock:

The disadvantage I have is the 8-hour time difference from GMT. I would like to have some Saturdays that I could start at 11 AM. :insane:

Especially when the choice is Aberlour.

I think that the Saturday is much more inclusive to the entire whisky community. That way that we can all join in at the same time (if we can) and have beverages as one large group.

I voted Saturday, because of no work I can join the tasting in the afternoon. Our European members are a good 8-10 hours ahead of the U.S. Pacific coast.

I seriously considered the last option but devolved to Saturday, for, as Mikey and Ganga can attest, the time zone difference is pretty tough for making a decent starting time with those on the other continent. With a Saturday start, I can be blotto by 4 pm here, while JJ is blotto by 10 pm there!

Do you mean to imply that you "Spit" after you taste? How far the British Empire has fallen.

My mother taught me to swallow whenever I put someting edible or potable in my mouth and not to spit it out. You must have missed that lesson.

Honestly, I really can't persuade myself to rinse/spit while doing a tasting. It seems like such a waste, especially considering what we have to pay for the ruddy stuff over here. So I stand by my "Blotto" comment and look forward to you joining JJ and myself as we drink for effect.
