April 2008 Live Tasting

I know we're still two weeks away from the March 2008 tasting but it did get selected for the very end of March. It is time to start thinking about Arpil's Live Tasting selection.

This is also the time to start making suggestions for the May polling options. Ya'll picked a bunch of light-weights this last time , so I expect better from you this time.

I chose Ardbeg, because that's what I have the most bottles of right now. I'd have picked Laphroaig, but it wasn't an option. So whatever is chosen based on this list, I have at least 1 bottle so it all works for me.

Caol Ila for me as well, again for Nick's reason that it's often overlooked but is such a great malt. And also because it might tempt Nick to open that OB 25 he's got so I can compare notes with RMW's new G&M CC 25 that I've just received...

I'll suggest Edradour for May's tasting. I don't think this distillery gets enough notice and they produce some brilliant bottlings. They certainly do enough wine finishes, so I don't think variety would be an issue

I had a 1990 vintage... and that was the best sherried whisky I've ever had... I have one bottle left.

I favoured Maccallum but would be keen to dabble in my newest shiniest favourite, Caol Ila, next!

I fairly leapt upon Caol Ila, seeing as it's one of the SMs that I really enjoy when I'm in the mood for something to reach out and shake me.

Regretfully, Mrs Musky can't handle the smoke that comes off the liquid so will have to keep out of the room until it disappates.

Really looking forward to this one!

It will take more than a week to arrive, when is the tasting? I'm getting nervous already.

Looking forward to get them. The Balvenie samples are still not finished yet. They are small but giving so much pleasure. The 20cl bottles will be perfect I guess. If I like the size I might buy smaller size bottles more often. Otherwise I'll end up with a hundred open bottles...

Ok folks, you have only a few days to get your Caol Ilas together for the tasting of 4/19, 1900 GMT. Only a few folks have volunteered suggestions as to what they might have open and on hand. It would be nice to have a few drams in common.
