June 2008 Live Tasting Suggestions

June 2008 Live Tasting Suggestions

Postby Ganga » Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:10 pm

So far:

Ardbeg
Lagavulin
Glenfiddich
Bladnoch

Whisky Calendar says Glenlivet but we did this one in November 2007. I'll start the preliminaries in early May with the intention of starting the final poll in time for the May 16 Macallan Tasting.

I'm thinking of adding Knockando. Or maybe just an impromptu Knockando tasting. Hm, anyone want to freestyle the Knock?

Another reasonably-priced option is An Cnoc.

I also like the idea of PE, but as you know, I can hardly ever make these dates myself.

We West Coasters are always around for tastings late at night (early in the morning for you), especially Friday night/Saturday morning.

With the next tasting being on a Friday, it looks like I'm in for a late night as well :D :D

I don't have any Knockando, otherwise I'd partake. I did try one sample of it a while back, it was Kockando 1990 (43%, OB).

At the time I found it very different, and almost forgettable. I suppose it may be time to give it another go.

Only ever had the one Knockando myself, and I can't remember what year it was distilled, but I remember it was a 12yo and it was a little blend-like (grainy?) and not particularly impressive to be honest.

I could go with Port Ellen as well for June actually.

Ardbeg
Lagavulin
Glenfiddich
Bladnoch
Port Ellen
An Cnoc-Knock Dhu
Springbank

Ok, I'm going to setup the preliminary poll for June and run it until about May 13 or 14. Above is the list of suggestions. Yes, I will add anymore that come in before I set up the poll.

Ardbeg would be welcome. I would love to find an Uigeadail, but might be difficult here in the sticks.

Might have to Wi-Fi from Molly MacPherson's in Savannah, GA http://www.macphersonspub.com/... tasting tomorrow night. I know they have the oogie.
