Live Tastings - Short Notice

Live Tastings - Short Notice

Postby Ganga » Thu May 01, 2008 10:01 pm

Would anyone be interested in participating in some short notice tastings? I was thinking that it might be nice to do tastings at the drop of the hat (ok, couple of days notice) with what we have in our stores.

The benefit I see is that some of the more oddball distilleries would be chosen. I also think this would at least provide an opportunity for some of our members to participate that aren't available at the time of the monthly tastings.

What does everyone think?

I think it is a great idea. Unfortunately things have come up the last couple of tastings so I couldn't participate. :x

Yep, definitely a good idea. I'm always up for tastings, whether planned a month in advance or at the drop of a hat :D

Everyone, feel free to start. No need to wait on me.

I've got a couple of Knockando sample I've been wanting to take out for a drive. I was thinking Saturday if anyone wants to give it a go.

Unbelievably, I will be away this Saturday as well. I really must try to stay in more

Edit: but of course I'm always up for a tasting if I'm online and anyone wants to do it.

Hey, it's merely a suggestion. I trapped at home with the boys on Saturday.

Again, everyone should feel free to suggest a whisky and tasting. If it works out great. If not, we try again. :iwbrnt:

I was trying to organize for Knockando. If you have another suggestion, go for it. I have my two little monsters and some yardwork to do in the morning. After that, I can make it.

I'm helping my sister move most of the morning and will be doing some things around the house etc. as well in the afternoon. The evening works best for me, when the boys are sound asleep. 830-9pm EST ish.

Quick options for me are A'bunadh, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, a pre-Macallan sampler, or just dramming in general, no specific theme needed. :smoke:

I'll be around here anyway, at least by 9pm EST.

Well there ya go. First theme: FREESTYLE dramming. Let's say 6 PM PDT, 9 PM EDT. If I can go long enough, we could encourage the Euro brethren to join in with their Sunday morning coffee (or drams if they really want).

Come one, come all.

I have to say, it was a good time Saturday/Sunday for our little freestyle session. Thanks to all who joined.

Looking forward to the next suggestion for a Live Tasting.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. I know, most you say, "So what." Because someone along the line decided that this was the USA's Independence Day, I have the day off tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone would like to go for another short notice Live Tasting. Sugggested theme independence. I was thinking independent bottlings or independently owned distilleries. If yes, I will set up the thread tomorrow.

Definitely Ganga! Even though I'm quite clueless about the whole Independence Day thing, I'll gladly toast it with you! Besides, I've missed the last umpteen h'official live tastings - well, from an actual live point of view - so it'd be good to get into the swing of things again. The only problem I can see is with the timing, as a decent evening time for you on t'other side of the pond generally equates to obscene o'clock for us here... but I'd still be up for it!

No worries about your time. We're off during the day. I'm thinking in terms of 7ish British Time.

It's possible I may be available, but it's really hard to tell what time at this point.

Ganga, If you 'begin' it, they will come! I'm sure there will be more than a few interested if you kick it off. :D :D

It's our independence celebration from the British.

I'll be toasting myself after work, but that won't be till after 11pm (CST).
Gotta keep the lights on!

Cheers!
