June 2008 Preliminary Poll

Postby Ganga » Fri May 02, 2008 4:17 pm

I'm going to run the preliminary poll out until just before the May Tasting. The intent is to get the Final poll started in time for the May Live Tasting.

I have taken everyone's suggestions (Whisky Calendar had Glenlivet which was recently done) and added one of my own. You may choose up to two (one is fine too Willie). Top Three advance.

OK my prelim votes are in. I chose Lagavulin and Port Ellen. Looks like I have a few samples, and bottles of each. Might be time to open a new bottle as well, but I'll wait and see what the final outcome is. :D :D

Well, Lagavulin obviously... :D

...and also Bladnoch for me, though I could've easily gone for either Port Ellen or Springbank instead.

Voted for Bladnoch  simply because it would be a great time to have a Bladdie tasting , keep Ardbeg for when the weather changes in September

Got the hang of it this time and voted twice :)

Gone for Bladnoch first; as Gordon says, with the release of Raymond's first spirit it's a great time for it.

Second choice was Scapa. As usual though I don't really mind. All are good for me.

Cheers

It's all good Willie. Only problem with the list for me is An Cnoc as it is a little more difficult for us to get. Otherwise, it's not a problem.

Glad to hear that voting is going smoother. Should start to become really smooth as we progress here.

Bladnoch and Glenfiddich for me - both lighter drams for the lighter months.

A couple of the options leading here will be tough for me. Ardbeg is about the only one that I'd be prepared for.

Ryan,

Glenfiddich is easy enough to get at least a miniature. You can get the 15 for $30-40 as well.

Yeah I was checking that out. My Father has a bottle of the Special Reserve 12yo, so I'm sure I can get a sample or two with no problem. I can get the 15yo for $45 and 17yo for $69 here, so its really not that bad. Worse case I have to buy a bottle I guess. One way or another I'll find a way to partake. :iwbrnt:

On another note I'm running out of space in my cabinet. When I got it I really thought room for 40 +/- bottles would be enough. And I just got a sneak peak at the latest SMWS Bottling List...OMG!!   Soooo many goodies!!!! Looks like my Brother and I are going to "create space" this weekend.

Brutal. It goes for $56 a bottle here. Just bought one yesterday. I need to move back to California.

Looks like it will be between Bladnoch, Ardbeg and Glenfiddich, unless some late votes come in.

Late votes comin' in. Laga has caught Ardbeg and Glenfiddich now.

And don't forget, there's still time to pick up a Macallan and join in on the Live Macallan tasting this Friday.

Lots more votes today. Thanks a bunch. Everything is getting really tight. Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Glenfiddich only one behind the leader Bladnoch. Remember the poll is closing Wednesday.

Woohoo! Bladnoch and Lagavulin are in the final!

As is Glenfiddich.

And, er, Ardbeg.

Should be an interesting final poll for next month's tasting!
