The Glenmo glass.

Nose: creamy caramel, spice blend, cooked apples, some citrus
Palate: Creamy, apples and oranges, caramel
Finish: long, spicey and caramel

Brandy glass.

Nose: spicey, oranges, caramel
Palate: almond toffee, cinnamon and reserved spices, cooked oranges and apples
Finish: long and spicey with the toffee playing with the spices

This is why I love sherried Macallans. There was no hint of any rubber, sulpher in this bottling.

Found hiding in the back of the cabinet...

SMWS 1987 Macallan 24.65, 14yo, 59.8% abv

Nose: Much less sherry than the 12, so it comes across as leaner. Citrus and a whiff of lychees. Some wood too.

Palate: Semi-sweet and not much sherry here either. Angular, not the fullness I normally get from a Macallan. Got more fruit and cream after clearing my palate some water...

Finish: Very drying. Quite a bit of heat. Lots of wood on the tail end of the finish.

Overall: The finish ruins this whisky for me, not that there was anything exceptional or memorable before that... Water did not help.

Yes Treacle we have decided that Ganga's final choice of distillery is so ridiculous that it should be outlawed. As you can see he accepts the wisdom of this decision.

Didn't drink today but nosed:
Macallan - Apple Mac - The Alchemist (16 yrs, 46%)
Macallan - The Alchemist (15 yrs, 46%)

The first one is finished in a calvados cask. The result is a nice apples smelling Macallan. An interesting bottle I think
Both Macs reminded me of the FO15 I had in the tasting, the Macallan identity?
