July 2008 Live Tasting - Preliminary Poll

Postby Ganga » Mon Jun 02, 2008 11:57 pm

Glenfiddich is coming up here shortly so it is time to start thinking about July. I'd like to thank those that nominated distilleries.

Instructions:
1. Everyone gets to vote for up to two in the preliminary poll.
2. The top three are selected for the final poll. Ties for 3rd carry forward.
3. Preliminary poll closes so that the final poll is open during the June Tasting.
4. Ganga gets to vote in preliminary poll but not final poll.

Voted for Springbank and Aberlour. The only two on the list I have more than one expression from their range...

I voted for Aberlour and Linlithgow as well. Aberlour because I love the a'bunadh and I have 2 bottles of it at home, plus a few samples of other batches. Linlithgow because I've never tried it, and I have a nice batch of samples on their way!!

Really, I'm not stacking the vote. :o I think you guys are just trying to get me drunk. Aberlour available to me: a'bunadh batches 6-18, 10 yo, 10 yo Trader Joe's. I'm sure I can get the 12 yo and 16 yo through Mikey.

Aberlour and Mortlach for me. I don't have any Aberlour just now but have enjoyed it in the past. Mortlach - I have the dregs of a bottle of 16 yo Flora and Fauna which is asking to be killed off and I am looking for an excuse to open a bottle of G&M 15 yo. With a third vote I'd go for Bladnoch.

I don't necessarily vote on what stocks I have but rather towards which distillery I would like to "research" with others. I don't mind going out to get a Bladnoch or a Rosebank. I'm also up for tasting bottles of that I do have such as Aberlour.

I went with Mortlach and Springbank of which I have multuple expressions of. A third vote would have gone to Strathmill to give me an excuse to open an older cask strength bottling of.

Cheers!

Still a week to vote everyone. I wouldn't mind Rosebank, Bladnoch or Mortlach, I have a few of each to try between samples etc. But it's looking like Aberlour might be tough to beat. Between the regular expressions and batches of a'bunadh, I'm sure it will be an interesting one. :D :D

True, but it is the runaway leader :o

I'd really like an Aberlour tasting actually. At least it'll give me an excuse to pick up the 18yo I've been meaning to get for ages, and it'd be good to look at the comparisons between all the a'bunadh batches.

I don't mind it being any of these and I haven't voted the last couple times cos it's easier for someone else to make the decision for me :) Anyway, we'll get round 'em all eventually :dead:

Wow, a really tough choice this time. I've gone for Bladnoch and Mortlach, but it looks like Aberlour will take it (even in the run-off). Don't mind though, should be good fun whatever we end up with.

What is the date for this month? I'll need to start dusting off bottles of Glenfiddich.

Last 8 hours ladies and gentlemen. The final poll will be started sometime this evening with the intention of running it through to the Glenfiddich Live Tasting-allows those in attendance to be reminded about voting for July.

Looks like it will be a choice of 4 in the run-off again unless someone can choose between Bladnoch and Mortlach.

We're within the last hour. Anyone? Otherwise look for the final poll this evening. Ok, earlier morning hours for the EU folks. Remember, I am merely the tie-breaker in the final voting.
