Glenfiddich 15yo Cask Strength 51%

Glass: Riedel Crystal SM
Water: None
Color: Light gold

Nose: Sweet, mix of rich moca and toffee.

Palate: This is just better, still rich with hints of oranges as well as some spice, cinnamon I think.

Finish: Long and warming, mixed spices hang around too. OH this is gooood!

I really like this, I'd buy a bottle in a second if I saw one.

I can currently get the 15 40% for $30. Such a steal. The CS is quite a bit more but I think it is worth it.

Yeah I'll keep my eyes open for a bottle, but last time I was at the Duty Free on my way to Quebec, they had no exclusive bottlings.

Are you still on? If so, sorry that I missed the "festivities" today/tonight. Logged on and read all the comments. Outstanding notes by all! Drammed NAS Special Reserve (after what turned out to be a "conditioning" malt - Glenfarclas 12 OB - what a beautiful "catalyst" it turned out to be)... delicious!
Then followed with a 15 Solera Reserve, 18 Ancient Reserve (unfortunately, the small amount left in the bottle had gone bad) and a 15 Cask Strength from about 8-9 yrs ago, but nearly full. Also delicious! Great dram. It'll be interesting to compare with the NZ duty free you have!

Glenfiddich 12yo (40%, Original Bottling, Special Reserve) - Noser glass

Nose: From first sniff it had a mustiness to it, Being in the glass and opening up a bit it has changed and is coming through with a lot more malt, the lemons and slight bit of limes is getting stronger.

Palate: Nice bit of spice works across the palate, medium body, malt lingers, ends with a light pepper

Finish: Medium short, a little oiliness remains.

Notes: Overall a nice dram, I will be interested in see how the other expressions play on this variation.

Nose: Interesting, there is a small bit of mustiness in the nose but nothing near the SR. So this comes right out with the Malt and much more lemon and I am getting a little nuttiness

Palate: Lemons and spice with malt to back it all up.

Finish: Medium short, a lemon note and less oil than the previous versions

Notes: I like the newer bottling a bit better than the Older Special Reserve. Find it just a tad more on the drinkable side.

Nose: Grain, cereal, and lemons again, these are in different concentrations vs. 12 and 12 SR and they are richer in the 15

Palate: Very nice spice lemons and oranges this time, lighter mouth feel

Finish: Much cleaner on the finish, medium in length and with a bit of spice to let you know it was there

Notes: Really did enjoy this dram. Could see a re-buy on this.

Glenfiddich 15yo (51%, Original Bottling, Green cardboard tube, NZ duty free, purchased 1/08)

Nose: Now we are talking... Lots of nice spice and fruits jump out of the glass, almond extract.

Palate: The extra strength really helps out here. Much more alive, and the spices come through stronger and with more weight. Woodiness, caramel, nutty, and light malt very tightly together.

Finish: Shorter than the standard 15 for me, just slightly dry in the finish, with the spices, and the lemons coming out.

Notes: I like this dram. And the one that I would choose so far out of the flight, wish I didn't have to fly out of the country to get it.
