August 2008 Live Tasting - Preliminary Poll

Well, ladies and gents you sure did provide a list for the August Selection. For this month, we will allow 3 votes in the preliminary round.

My votes are in, I voted based on what I have available, or what I'd like to have available real quick.

In order of preference I voted Mortlach, St. Maggie, Springbank, but either would be quite nice.

As the choice gets bigger it also gets harder. I have a heap of Balblairs and Glen Grants lying around, but I've gone for Mortlach and Bladnoch (compulsory) and Scapa. Whatever happens it will be great fun.

I voted Glenmorangie since I have a couple, Springbank because of the recent discussion, and Bladnoch since I've never sampled it and I need a reason to buy one or two.

Just happens that I picked the leaders thus far...lol.

With my vote Mortlach just took the lead!

I opted for Mortlach because I already have several bottles of it opened and a couple in the wings waiting to be tasted.

Glen Grant which is one of my original nominations.

...and lastly the Glen Scotia for the reason is that I've never tasted one and it would just give me an extra excuse to buy 1 or 2.

Springbank - because I just bought the 100 proof and this would be a good event to open it at.

Poll closes Saturday afternoon, or evening depending on your global positioning. Final poll will be conducted to allow those tasting Aberlour on the 19th to vote and close to provide Matt plenty of time to contact the proper people.

BTW, any objectionable weekends? I know I usually am pretty booked on weekends in August but you guys don't need me present to have a good time.

As far as bad weekends, only the Aug 1st-2nd don't work for me Ganga, as of right now anyway. We never have a tasting that early in the month, so shouldn't be a problem.

Would it really make things confusing if people picked 2 dates that worked for them? Maybe this would even it out and get more people involved, just a thought I had. You do all the work, and do a great job at it, so I don't want to make it more confusing by any means.

If you wanted two dates, I'd suggest that the vote be for Fri/Sat pairings. I suggest that this should be a topic of discussion that takes place for September. We could start it as part of the live tasting and continue forward.

I would like to avoid weekend of Fri 8/Sat 9 August. I will be enjoying the Whisky Fringe on Sunday 10 August. Anyone else going on Sunday?

Ought to be an interesting tasting choice for August: Springbank, Bladnoch or Mortlach. I'll get this setup tonight with choices of dates.
